New Regional Governor of Attica ,G. Patoulis, met the new Archbishop of America Elpidophoros
President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece and new Regional Governor of Attica ,G. Patoulis, attended the enthronement ceremony of the new Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros in NYC which was held with resplendence and was attended by
a large number of Greek- American people and officials of Greece and the USA .
After the end of the ceremony the new Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros, held a working meeting with the newly elected Attica Regional Governor G. Patoulis.
At the heart of the important conversation were issues related to the further empowerment of the cooperation of the Archdiocese of America and the local and regional government of Greece .In addition, issues related to the construction of Saint Nikloas Orthdox Church at point zero in Manhattan were discussed, as well as the operation of the historical Theological School of Halki. Both sides agreed to develop joint initiatives that would bring Mother Greece and Greek expatriates closer, and expressed their common intention to work closely and creatively from their new positions.
Archibishop Elpidophoros congratulated Mr. Patoulis for his victorious election in Attica Region, and the new Attica Governor expressed his gratitude for his long friendship with the new Archibishop of America.
G. Patoulis, stated " With his Eminence Archibishop Elpidoforos we’re acquainted for several years and linked with bonds of friendship and appreciation, for which I feel extremely blessed. During those years I had the honor to visit the Holy Theological School of Halki and to be guided personally by his Eminence at Halki Thelogical School’s premises, including the monumental historical library of the School of Halki .
I’m sure that Archbishop Elpidophoros from his new position will soon bring solutions to this important issue.
His role in completing the St. Nicholas' Church at zero point in Manhattan, will also be decisive. I believe that in co-operation with the Greek community and business people, he will quickly achieve significant results. "
The new Archbishop of America is a blessed and worthy choice for his role, which will prove to be catalytic for Hellenism, and in tightening relationships between Mother Greece and the Greek -American Diaspora.
The divine grace of God led him to take on this important position.
Respectively, the citizens of Attica honored me with their vote, and from my new role as Regional Governor of Attica I am sure we will be able to expand and fortify the bridge between the Greek- American community with Attica Region and Greece”
Apart from the President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece and newly elected Governor of Attica Region, Giorgos Patoulis, the enthronement ceremony of the new Archibishop of America was attended by representatives of Local and Regional government of Greece as the Central Macedonia Regional Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Regional Governor of Thessaly K. Agorastos, and the new Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas .
